I have been a pastor for a while now and when I back away from the conversations that I typically engage in on a normal day....I start to laugh. It's all relative! I had a random thought the other day in regards to pastor talk applied to ANYTHING else.....
For instance, pastor talk applied to the daily ride to work....
"Dude, what you running on the way to work?"
"We started taking this new route about 6 months ago with 2 passengers, but there seems to be a buzz about what's happening."
"We are driving a Honda Odyssey now and we seat about 8 comfortably, but we are at max capacity already."
"I really would like to add another seat, but there is not enough room. I think I might have to add a second vehicle to fit all the new folks needing a ride."
"That's awesome! What route are you taking to gather so many folks?"
"Well....we have one vehicle going the traditional route, but my buddy's caravan has found a new route that is shorter and more scenic, but not sure the most innovative approach to getting there yet....ask me in a few months."
"Twitter is a great way to find the best practices, from the best drivers with the safest approaches to getting to work...you ought to try it."
"We are even thinking about having a conference concerning the best route, the way to add more space to our vehicles and whether or not our driving habits are conducive for maximum effectiveness on the journey."
I just have to laugh at myself sometimes....this is how I must sound to an eaves dropper.
